2004 POWDER Video Awards - Movie Of The Year

Jeremy Nobis
Greg Von Doersten

Matchstick Production's three-year winning streak ended at this year's POWDER Video Awards in Aspen, Colorado when Teton Gravity Research was presented with the award for Movie of the Year. The winning film, "High Life", is a well-rounded mix of big-mountain and park with some mountaineering thrown in for good measure, creating a fluid combination of action and documentary with an endearing portrayal ski culture both on and off the mountain.

TGR filmed in some of the most exotic ski locations of Alaska, Oregon, Wyoming, Canada, France, and Italy with a cast that includes Marc Andre Belliveau, Kent Kreitler, Jeremy Nobis, Peter Olenick, Jamie Pierre, Micah Black, Will Burks, Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, Chris Collins, Matt Collins, Mickael Deschenaux, Rick Greener and Candide Thovex. The talent and diversity of these skiers combined with top of the line cinematography on both park and big mountain terrain carries the action, while still maintaining an eye for the ski culture off the slopes. This is the first time in the history of the Powder Video Awards that Matchstick Productions has not taken home the top prize.

While "High Life" may make you want to quit your job, despise your parents for not putting you on skis before you could walk or leave you hopeful when Sage Cattabriga-Alosa announces that he used to wash dishes before heli-skiing in the Italian Dolomites, High Life will no doubt inspire you to get off the couch and onto the slopes.
