We know it's nothing more than luck, but there seems to be a correlation between PTTP visiting an area and snowfall. It puked in Utah before we left and in Colorado we almost always encountered soft powder conditions. Our cumulative fresh-o-meter totaled nearly 100 inches during February. Being on the road and constantly moving to a set schedule made this figure even more impressive. Our luck seemed too good to be true when we visited Crested Butte. The steep terrain here is legendary, but so are the thin snow conditions, so we arrived expecting our good fortune to take a turn for the worst. Then a precipitous mass engulfed the mountain for our entire stay. It snowed close to 30 inches in Crested Butte and we took full advantage of the bounty before us.

Our guides, Woody Lindenmeyr and Wendy Fisher, are arguably the most talented husband and wife combination to ever grace the slopes. They brought us directly to the goods and we killed it, but the mountain can bite back as Gabe discovered. While we were making our way down the deep pitches of Fredo's, Gabe came across a small ridge of rocks. Instead of ruining his skis, Gabe fell and put a core shot in his helmet. That evening Boeri received a phone call from a very satisfied customer who thanked them for his skull that remained intact. Helmets are good, wear one. Aside from Gabe's minor mishap the skiing was phenomenal and the company couldn't have been better. During an apres ski session at The Avalanche, the consensus was that it had been between 3 to 5 years since such a deep day was had. We truly had been blessed on this stop.
