War! Huh, good God y’all. What is it good for?

Well, if we’re talking about Johnny DeCesare’s 2005 feature movie, it’s good for about an hour of great entertainment, and the 2006 Powder Video Award for Movie of the Year.

War contained all the elements of a great ski movie: Top notch talent, quality soundtrack, a good mix of freestyle and big mountain skiing, and a consistent theme carried throughout the film.

Poor Boyz used a 50s comic book motif to introduce skiers such as J.P. Auclair, Seth Morrison, Candide Thovex, and Sammy Carlsen. J.P. put in one of the most diverse segments of the year, earning a nomination for Best Male, and winning Best P.O.V. Candide proves once again that he is a freak of nature, earning two Best Jib nominations, including the winner, a 23+ foot, extremely fluid tree jib.

On the production end, DeCesare keeps the action flowing with a simple yet effective theme that holds the viewers attention, and great pacing that never lulled or appeared too rushed.

This year’s award breaks Poor Boyz five-year bridesmaid slump. PBP was the only production company to be nominated for Movie of the Year at every PVA and not win the award.
