HENSEL PORTY 1200 W/S BATTERY AND EHT 1200 FLASH HEAD $2,000 KIT
[816.268.3649; henselusa.com]
When doing action photography you need a flash with a lot of juice since you normally are working with short speeds and need heaps of light to freeze a scene. Hensel is one of the lightest and smallest portable flash systems on the market. Weight is worth as much in gold, literally, since paying overweight baggage fees to airlines really hurts.

MANFROTTO 420B FLASH TRIPOD $125
[201.808.9500; manfrotto.com]
If you don’t have any friends to hold the flash, a tripod gets handy when you want to use your light source from an angle.

PROFOTO MEDIUM WHITE UMBRELLA $100
[profoto.com]
Lighting equipment I use for portraits and softer light. When they are close to the object, you have the same feeling as being in a big studio softbox. Umbrellas are easier to use in the field, although they love to fly when it’s windy.

MANFROTTO 055PRO TRIPOD $170
[201.818.9500; manfrotto.com]
Always bring a tripod for longer exposures. You want to have a heavy enough tripod to avoid camera shakes, but not too heavy or you have to get an assistant.

ZERO IMAGE 612F PINHOLE CAMERA $455
[zeroimage.com]
For the arty farty shots. This beauty is not really for action photography since the shutter speed rarely gets under seconds or minutes. With its aperture of 235f, it eats light and patience but leaves a funky paint-like result.

GENERAL SNUS $3.75 [snusexpress.com]
The most important item on my checklist. The Nordic version of chewing tobacco where the difference is that we don’t spit it out. We Europeans are too sophisticated for that type of behavior. If you ever met a Swede, they have probably made you try it.
