WASHINGTON: Heavy Snow and Avalanches Close Pass Roads
Ski areas in Western Washington strangely crossed their fingers in hope for a break from the weather that has discharged up to 8 feet of snow in five days. On Saturday, the Mount Baker, Stevens, and Snoqualmie Pass' were all closed due to avalanche danger forcing the closure of those three ski areas.

On the only cloudy day at the 2008 Winter X Games, Norwegian Andreas Hatveit ignored the grey light and experienced the sunniest day of his life. The 21-year-old, who also won Best Jib at the Powder Video Awards the night prior, defeated New Zealand’s Jossi Wells on the last run of the Slopestyle contest.

It was a nice get-together --in many ways everything that any of us could hope for when our time comes. A group of tight friends and family who see each other often but have too few excuses to gather like this, sharing beer and wine, hugs and tears, and stories of better times.
