News JANUARY 7-Snowbird Wins Tram-Off
A team of four women skied and snowboarded a record 30 Snowbird Trams Tuesday logging a team total of 348,000 vertical feet and 75 miles, beating the Jackson Hole team by a scant 324 vertical feet.

In an ultimately successful stunt last week, Ski Utah members led a team of snowsports journalists on an all-out assault of the seven Salt Lake City-area resorts: Snowbird, Alta, Brighton, Solitude, The Canyons, Deer Valley, and Park City Mountain Resort.

In what could begin a great rivalry in skiing, four Snowbird athletes riding the Snowbird tram will race four Jackson Hole athletes riding the Jackson Hole tram in a head-to-head, most-vertical-skied-in-a-day-wins competition next Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003.

Boyd Easley wins the Winter X Games superpipe qualifier in Val Thorens, France. Thomas Rinfret and Henrik Winstedt also secure spots. Moseley receives wild card invitation.
 
DECEMBER 16-Cline, Puckett Claim Victory in 14th Annual Audi 24 Hours of Aspen
After 24 hours, 63 laps, 205,821 vertical feet (62,748 meters) Casey Puckett of Aspen, Colorado, won the men's division in the 14th Annual Audi 24 Hours of Aspen walking away with the $10,000 first prize. Winning the women's division was Aleisha Cline of Canada, claiming victory by 38 seconds over Aspen local Asia Jenkins.
 
DECEMBER 14-Skiing in the name of...
J.T. Holmes, a full-time student and skier, doesn't have a lot of disposable income to donate to charities. Instead, he and other high-profile skiers, like Jonny Moseley and Darian Boyle, are contributing to a meaningful cause by donating their skiing talents and personalities to the Duke Peterson Scholarship Memorial Ski Day.
