1242 Premiere

October 24, 2003

Johnny D.

The crowd of over 300 people roared as the first glimpse of 1242, Poor Boyz Productions' newest film and Oakley team movie, appeared on the screen in the auditorium at Oakley's world headquarters in California last night. All 12 Oakley athletes featured in the movie were in attendance to release the first team-sponsored video into the world of skiing, and did so with enthusiasm and drink in hand.

Red Bull fueled the night with an endless supply of their energy drink mixed with vodka, and Oakley rolled out the red carpet for the athletes and industry personnel invited to the showing. The festivities were punctuated by the viewing of 1242 and the highlight of the eve was Pep Fuja's segment, which received a standing ovation upon completion. Pep was decidedly the best breakthrough athlete and 1242's filmmaker Johnny DeCesare secured his spot in skiing history with his eighth successful film in a row. The rest of the film was a huge success based on audience reaction. All the athletes were cheering on each others' segments, most notably Tanner Hall and his crew who were throwing signs up for performances they enjoyed.

Post show the rest of the Oakley crew rocked out to an '80s metal cover band with a fondness for Bon Jovi. Dan Treadway was throwing beers and picking on Anthony Boronowski, and Seth Morrison was waxing poetics next to Julien L. Regnier. All had a good time and a Lincoln Navigator stretch limo took the athletes away to sleep off the evening and dream of the new season only a few short weeks away.--Jamey Voss
