2 More Utah Resorts Open Today
11/13/03
Snowbird, Utah -Mother Nature came through with another winter storm just as Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort prepares to open Friday, Nov. 14, with two chairlifts and the Tram.
Fresh snow and great snow conditions will greet skiers and snowboarders Friday at 9 a.m. when Snowbird opens for the 2003-04 season with the Gadzoom and Mid-Gad chairlifts as well as the Tram servicing the Regulator Johnson run. The ticket price will be $38 per day.
"Between the five feet of snow we've received this month and our new snowmaking system, the conditions are amazing for mid-November," said Snowbird President Bob Bonar.
Snowbird spent the summer installing a new snowmaking system that extends up the Regulator Johnson run near the top of 11,000-foot Hidden Peak. The new snowmaking system is critical to Snowbird's ability to offer the Tram on opening day. Solitude Mountain Resort opens Friday
Solitude, Utah -With more than 61 inches of natural snowfall already this season, Solitude will begin turning its lifts this Friday. Thanks to the early season snow, the mountain opens with an average base depth of 27 inches, and is expecting as much as 15 inches to fall through tonight with more snow predicted this weekend. Solitude will offer discounted lift tickets at $34 to celebrate the start of the 2003-04 season.
Guests will have access to all services at the Moonbeam Center and Last Chance Mining Camp. Also, the Thirsty Squirrel, located in the recently completed Solitude Village, will be open for après ski festivities. The village, nearly a decade in the making, was finished this past July, offering more than 200 ski-in/ski-out units; an outdoor skating rink; a professional spa; outdoor heated pools and hot tubs; and an array of dining options, ranging from French fine dining to family-friendly rustic Italian dishes crafted by regionally-renowned Executive Chef, Lane Pellinger.
Solitude Mountain Resort, a year-round, family-friendly destination, receives more than 500 inches of the Greatest Snow on Earth˙ every year, and is located just 40 minutes from the Salt Lake International Airport.
