Those walking the proverbial red carpet from the Whistler gondola to the Roundhouse’s three screening rooms included Hit List athletes Hugo Harrisson, Ingrid Backstrom, Eric Hjorleifson, Mike Douglas, Andy Mahre, Rory Bushfield, Chris Benchetler, and Sarah Burke.

Eric Hjorlefison kicked off the action with a stunning and diverse segment stretching from Alaska to Mica Heli Lodge. The 22 year-old Canmore, Alberta native established himself as one of skiing’s rising stars, nailing jaw-dropping lines with an aesthetically pleasing style.

Ingrid Backstrom reaffirmed her position as the top female big mountain skier in the world with multiple appearances throughout the film, including daring descents in Tulsequah, BC, Alaska, and her home stomping ground of Squaw Valley.

“I really learned a lot this year,” says Backstrom. “We had perfect conditions filming Yearbook [last year’s MSP flick]. I just kept waiting for that this year and it never happened.”

Backstrom’s willingness to charge through challenging situations was exemplified with one particular line in Mica Creek that left Backstrom clinging to the bed surface after the slope ripped out below her.

Hugo Harrisson, J.T. Holmes, Mike Douglas and Rory Bushfield also turned in notable performances.

The night culminated at the Garabaldi Lift Company at Whistler’s base, with a VIP performance by hip-hop group Sweatshop Union.

Overall, HIT LIST offers a diverse representation of freeskiing, highlighted by a HELI CRUISE with three skiers spanning all aspects of the sport—freestyler Mark Abma, World Cup champion Daron Rahlves and big mountain legend Chris Davenport. With a jamming soundtrack, MSP’s best powder segments to date (Tahoe’s record storm and Pep Fujas in Krasnaya Polyana) and a few moments of comic relief, MSP provides all the inspiration you’ll need to create your own hit list.
