The last few days have been sunny and warm. Todd and I have been going to the hill at about nine o’clock to hit the snow just as it starts to corn up. There have been some decent turns on the far east end of the Palmer snowfield and on the west side of the chairlift. We haven’t been able to make full laps on the Magic Mile for a few weeks, so we don’t really ski the lower mountain.

On Monday, July 2nd, I decided to make a few laps through the public park, which is located on the Mile. The first run was okay—two short walks at the bottom, no lift line. The second run was the same, but there was a big group of High Cascade campers walking to the lift. Out of desperation I began to run, not wanting have to stand in the beaming sun wearing ski clothes. I figured the line would diminish if they were just going to head up to their private park, so I made another run.

I wasn’t too surprised to find a long line, but I was surprised that the single line only had four people in it. The best part is that they didn’t want to deal with the line on the Palmer, so they were lapping the Mile. At this point, I decided to head up the Palmer and see what was going on at Windells.

There was a snowboard rail jam going on, so a few of the skiers took advantage of the less populated jumps. This was the last day of the session, so I also had to make use of the open features. Because of this, I didn’t take any action shots. Mike Clarke was doing some sick cork and rodeo 9’s.

The HCSCers were now reaching the Palmer. I think they have 168 campers, so I was ready to head back to the house, and go for a bike ride.
