Pep Fujas has been an inspiration to many skiers for years, including myself. He has a clean, yet very powerful style. His movie segments alone prove he is amazing on a pair of skis, but they don’t do justice compared to seeing him ski in person. I’ve gotten to spend a decent amount of time with Pep, and he is in my mind one of the greatest all-around skiers ever. Skiing isn’t the only thing going for him; he’s very intelligent, and knows how to use his time wisely.
Pep was born in Medford, OR in 1982. He was raised in a few places throughout the Rogue Valley. From Oregon, he went to Steamboat Springs, CO, to attend a skiing academy. From Steamboat, he moved to Mammoth, CA, to pursue his now ever so flourishing career. From Mammoth he moved to Park City, UT. From there, he moved to where he lives now, in his truck, making movies.
I called him up to have a little chat for a dispatch, here is what I came up with.
Where are you right now?
Home.
Where is that?
Sandy, UT. I consider my truck my home though.
OK, where was your house yesterday?
I drove it from Mt. Hood, OR, to Sandy, UT.
What were you doing here at Mt. Hood?
I was doing a little bit of skiing, a little bit of editing, a little bit of skateboarding, a little bit of Tom Foolery.
Tom Foolery?
Yup.
Ok…?
You weren't skiing much near the end of your stay here. What happened?
I rolled my ankle skateboarding.
Bummer
Yeah, but I'm doing a documentary on Cali P. He recorded some songs here.
