We knew Jackson Hole was going to be a good time before we got there. Powder week was upon us. This consists of the Powder staff mixing with the different product managers of the ski industry and skiing their latest and greatest for the next winter season, a reconnaissance mission of sorts for the Buyer's Guide. Of course Teton Village has great restaurants and nightlife so we were expecting a little fun in the evenings as well. The 60 inches of fresh that was unleashed on the Tetons during our visit was the icing on the cake.
Like kids in a candy shop, Gabe and I rubbed our hands together in anticipation of the sweetness that awaited us. The only thing left to decide before hitting the mountain was which skis to use, "What do you think Gabe? Should I take out the Salomon AK Rockets with the new Swallow Tail design, the new super fat twin tipped K2 Kahuna, or the Rossignol B3's? What about the Volant Spatulas?" These are the type of tough decisions that face the participants of Powder week. "I don't know Dave. What do you figure will float better on top of the 21 inches we got last night?" The pressure started to get to me and I grabbed whatever was next to me, as two-by -fours would suffice with the hero snow that awaited us. A similar scene was repeated every morning during our five-day stay.
