DREAM SEASON: Worldwide Guide to Heli & Cat Skiing

As the first comprehensive guide to heli and cat skiing, Bill Wanrooy and Chris Anythony’s book, Dream Season: Worldwide Guide to Heli & Cat Skiing/Boarding offers an introductory tool to plan a dream trip anywhere snowcats or heli operations go.

Wanrooy said he decided to write the book because in the past, when trying to plan trips there was never a good, guide that included a quality overview of all the operations available.

A comprehensive overview is exactly what this book achieves. After an introduction and tips to planning a heli ski trip, the book offers four chapters of first-hand experiences in New Zealand, Russia, British Columbia and Colorado. The final eight chapters consist of reviews of heli ski and cat ski destinations from the Himalayas, Europe, Greenland, New Zealand, and the Americas. The end of each chapter includes a list of all operations within that region, their contact information, prices and a blurb about the company taken from their website.

Wanrooy said he wants the guide, which he plans to update every other year, to become the gold standard in heli and cat ski trip planning. He also said he hopes the book will encourage those who never thought such a trip was possible to make the commitment.

“I hope that it’s gonna be able to help people that have always dreamed of going on a heli or cat skiing trip but were unsure of where to start,” Wanrooy said. “I’m hoping that this book is going to give them the ultimate starting point, so that when they’re sitting there dreaming about it they already have a lot of research done for them.”
