SMITH OPTICS MARRIES TECH AND FASHION IN THE NEW SERPICO
Smith Optics proudly presents its newest Street Series model, the Serpico. Named after the seventies Pacino cop flick, the oversized and fiercely-styled Serpico is the sunglass industry’s first “Toric” aviator sunglass.
A Toric lens utilizes two different base curves of the lens--one horizontal and one vertical--to create a high-wrap, modern lens profile. Smith’s toric lens incorporates a 9x3 base curve lens, meaning the lens is 9 base in the horizontal curvature, and 3 base in the vertical curvature. A standard sunglass lens is spherical in shape with match base curves in all directions i.e. 6x6, 8x8, 9x9.
As always, Smith’s TLT Optics™ is used to eliminate visual distortion and refine objects’ definition. The large lenses provide increased wind and glare protection as well as irreverent style. Thin and ultra light, the optical-grade metal frame provides an exceptionally comfortable fit with self-adjusting silicone nose pads and handmade acetate temple tips. A custom “stop hinge” is used to keep the temples from hitting the lens when not being worn. A pad-printed Smith wordmark is applied to the lens for strapping style.
Available in 2 color options, the Serpico has a suggested retail price of $80 and comes in Gold with Sienna Brown lenses, and Gunmetal with True Color Gray lenses.
