Eric gave me a ride from Gunnison to Crested Butte. His Toyota truck was packed with camping and fishing gear, and a sea kayak was strapped to his roof. Eric was on his way to Alaska to study birds on a wildlife refuge. Unlike most people going to the Butte, Eric wasn't hoping to get some turns. Rather, he was in pursuit of a black rosy finch, a small bird that would add to his "life list" that already included thousands of other birds.Yeah, total psycho.
