When you hitch, you will every once in a while encounter a driver who makes the pavement feel more comfortable and safe. When Marty pulled over in Leadville, I wasn't exactly ready to hop in beside him. His eyes and somber tone gave him a suspicious look, but that was probably my paranoia setting in. It wasn't until after he dropped me off (in the middle fo nowhere) that I realized he'd been wearing a green shirt. It was St. Patrick's Day, and I didn't even know it.
