It's late December at Silverton Mountain and skiing like March in a good year. Silverton got hammered by 100 inches of snow over an eight-day period in early December, with 48 inches falling over the first 24 hours, and the impact of that wet, heavy early-season storm is evident.

With daytime temperatures hitting the 60s and no snow in the forecast, winter may seem far off for Salt Lake City residents. On Saturday Nov. 3, thousands from this snow-crazed metropolis gathered in the Gallivan Center in downtown SLC to try to change that.
