Teton Village, Wyo. -In the face of nearly seventeen feet of snow, five feet of it since Christmas Day, it is hard to say whether or not Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) snowmakers are pleased with the mountain's conditions lately.
"We did about as much as we could before Mother Nature took over," said Carl Laco, Snowmaking Systems Director. "Our new snowmaking system, the cold weather, and our highly effective staff made more snow before Christmas than we ever have before. Of course, we humbly bow our heads to the snow gods whenever they come knocking, and sending 200 inches of snow before the New Year is about as loud as they come."
Vacationing and local guests alike are shredding the New Year in deep powder style throughout the valley of Jackson Hole. Families are reveling in new Teton Village amenities such as those at the Four Seasons Resort Jackson Hole and renovations at the Teton Mountain Lodge's Cascade Restaurant. Inspired by over six feet of accumulated base, locals and visitors are conquering the gamut of secret steep and deep lines around the mountain.
All in all, someone favors Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, and while it may not be the snowmakers at present, everyone else seems to be sliding around with a smile.
