On November 21, 2003 Keystone Resort will honor resort founder Max Dercum by renaming the front peak of the resort to Dercum Mountain. This comes exactly 33 years after the resort first opened and will not be the only change to Keystone for this season.
Park rats and powder hounds rejoice, Keystone Resort is answering demands on an epic scale. The terrain park will double in size from last season and will be relocated to Pack Saddle Bowl where it can benefit from two return lifts. It will feature 51 rails and 3 progressive lines with all sizes and shapes of jumps and other terrain features. A newly acquired 18-foot Zaugg Superpipe Cutter will have skiers and boarders alike boosting out of the halfpipe and landing safely on buttery transitions. When it dumps, skiers can take advantage of Keystone Resorts newly offered snowcat skiing. The pilot program last year was a success bringing 1100 guests to untracked alpine bowls in just 8 days. The snowcats will service a powder paradise just off the top of the Outback.
For the ladies (and guys) Keystone has implemented the first resort all women's pro team in the industry. Wendy Fisher and Taiga Young will head the team and serve as positive roll models to any female who aspires to compete in mountain sports (beware of bruised male egos littering the slopes). All in all, Keystone Resort is turning it up a notch for those skiers who like to do the same. Check out Keystone at keystoneresort.com
