DANA POINT, CA -Powder magazine today announced the appointment of veteran ski writer and editor Tom Bie. Bie will join the Powder team as editor of the redesigned magazine.
Bie has a more than decade-long history writing and editing in the ski industry. He served most recently as senior editor of Skiing magazine in Boulder, Colorado. During that time, Bie also authored Steamboat, Ski Town USA, a 180-page coffee-table book on the history of Steamboat, which was awarded the 2003 Ullr award by the American Ski History Association.
"Having written for Powder for over 10 years, I couldn't be more excited to help take this magazine to the next level," Bie said. "The move to a larger-format design, along with improvements in paper quality and overall editorial content, will help push Powder beyond its already strong position as the true skier's magazine."
His years living in ski towns, such as Steamboat and Park City, give Bie an insider's view of skiing's unique and ever-changing culture. With his experience as sports editor and columnist for the Jackson Hole Guide and as the managing editor at Paddler magazine, Bie brings a broad perspective on both publishing and the ski industry to Powder.
