A major, slow-moving winter storm covered New Mexico's winter resorts with heavy snow overnight and continues to dump on the Sangre de Cristo Range of the Rockies today. All of the state's northern ski areas picked up significant accumulation from this storm with snow continuing to fall this morning and a forecast calling for additional accumulation of 6 or more inches.

The new snowfall comes right on time for the area's scheduled opening dates:
Angel Fire - December 12
Red River - November 26, weekends only
Enchanted Forest - November 15th - this storm will allow them to open early
Sipapu - November 22
Ski Apache - November 27
Ski Santa Fe - November 27
Taos Ski Valley - November 22 - final opening day decision will be made on 11/14
All of the state's areas have been making snow over the last several weeks thanks to cold night time temperatures and conditions are looking good for the start of the season. Winter storms are forecast for the weekend and next week.
