Special Forces select Ortovox M2 avalanche transceivers and Expert shovels
Starting this winter, an entire brigade of US Army mountain-based special operations forces will join thousands of ski patrollers, search and rescue crews, guide companies and backcountry enthusiasts in carrying Ortovox's M2 Avalanche Transceiver in snow covered terrain.
The M2 combines the benefits of digital and analog technologies to create a transceiver with clear, safe, fast searches and the biggest search range on the market (80 meters). In addition to the range and ease of use, the military chooses the M2 for its ability to isolate signals when searching for multiple victims, shorter search time through micro-processor control and its earphone connection when searching in a group.
"Of all of Ortovox's customers, no one reviews a wider range of brands and has a more stringent test program than the military's special forces," says Marcus Peterson, General Manager of Ortovox USA. "The mountain divisions pick of the M2 confirms the feedback we've been getting for years from guides, patrols and rescue services around the world, the M2 is the choice for professionals in the field."
A search can't be a recovery without a good quality, easy to pack and assemble shovel. For this, the mountain based special operations forces will be packing Ortovox's Expert Shovel that is constructed from an aluminum/magnesium alloy. A telescopic handle, ergonomic grip and amazingly large shovel volume makes this the ideal shovel for those who need to move a lot of snow on the go, like professional rescuers, helicopter ski and snowboard guides and now, the military's mountain elite.
The mountain based special operations forces will begin training with Ortovox's M2 transceiver and Expert Shovel this summer and have them in the field by fall.
