The PowderMaggots have done it again. After creating a successful top sheet graphic for a Swiss ski company last year, enthusiastic rumblings regarding the creation of Maggots, Inc., a maggot owned and operated gear company, surfaced and resurfaced on the powdermag.com message boards for months. Intent to create such a company, Maggots traveled from SIA in Las Vegas to ISPO in Munich in search of good gear for good prices. Maggot perseverance has now paid off. The PM Gear website launches today with some of the meanest ski gloves on the planet, the palm and fingers of the glove covered in Schoeller keprotec, a kevlar weave fabric of exceptional durability.

"Maggots are gearheads," says Len Holmgren, PM Gear's Chief Financial Officer. "We ski hard and take equipment to the limit. For years, we have networked extensively on powdermag.com, comparing the prices and durability of different equipment. We started PM Gear to deliver durable and innovative gear to the Maggot family at affordable prices."

PM Gear is offering their keprotec glove to fellow maggots at an almost unheard-of price of $33, including shipping. Manufactured exclusively for PM Gear by Downing Gloves, keprotec-covered gloves are quite rare. " Keprotec is a an expensive material," says Holmgren, "but for people who wear out the fingers and palms of their gloves, there is no exterior glove fabric more durable on the market today. If you look on the PM Gear website, we show a clip of one of our gloves as it is pulled down a strand of barbwire on a fence. The barbs don't even leave a scratch. Try that with any other glove."

PM Gear plans to introduce additional products as the season progresses. Backpacks, travel gear, and goggles are just a few of the items the PM Gear site will add soon. " It's a company built by skiers for skiers. We're also in discussions with a former top Olympic skier to rep a line of products inspired by his years of traveling the world," says Holmgren" PM Gear is currently designing other innovative products the company plans to manufacture, including a next-generation keprotec glove. "PM Gear will introduce new products that will challenge status quo perceptions of what ski gear should look like and how long it should last. These keprotec gloves have been in development for years. With the help of our fellow maggots, we will build one more glove model, the Ultimate Glove, for next year - the driest, warmest, most durable ski glove in the world." Based on their accomplishments to date, it looks like the Maggots are on a roll.
