Whistler, December 19, 2002 - Ullr has finally bestowed his favour on
Whistler Blackcomb. In the last 7 days, the Snow God has blessed the resort
with just under 5 feet (143 cm) of fresh snow, and locals are rejoicing.
"It's a winter wonderland up here," Shawn "Smiley" Nesbitt, Whistler
Freeride Team member, reported from the top of Blackcomb Mountain. "The
snow is falling, the trees are caked, and I skied some knee deep powder this
morning."
Conditions have improved dramatically in the last week, and operations on
Whistler and Blackcomb are expanding at a furious rate. About 90% of lifts
are running. All of the main lifts on Blackcomb are now open, and the only
main lift still closed on Whistler, the Peak Chair, is expected to open
tomorrow. Groomed trails are in excellent shape.
