ASPEN, Colo. -- Candide Thovex might not have wings - but that doesn't mean the Frenchman can't fly.
It's a feat those in attendance during Saturday's Winter X Games VII Ski SuperPipe final witnessed firsthand. Thovex's flight pattern ended directly on top of the medals' stand with his second Winter X Gold after posting a mind-boggling score of 96.00 on his second run.
"I was feeling stoked to be there," said Thovex (La Clusaz, FRA), who was soaring above the pipe in his final run. "I was just there to ride for me."
Tanner Hall (Kalispell, Mont.) earned Silver with an outstanding first run to bring his Winter X Games medal total to three (two Gold, one Silver).
"Candide and C.R. Johnson are crazy," Hall said. "My skiing was a little off but I still had a fun competition. More and more kids are now seeing that Pipe is where it's at."
