Chrzanowski in his movie The Good Life

After making films for over twenty years, and now seeing the surge of skiers toting video cameras and editing on their own computers, Peter ("Peru") Chrzanowski has decided to start a unique new extreme film program.

The program will begin with an inaugural course in Golden, B.C. on March 17th through 23rd, 2003. Peter is concentrating on rallying everyone locally to this program as a preliminary trial run. The course is being offered to Golden locals along with visiting students.

Students' film samples from the course may be included in Chrzanowski's documentary film GOLDENRUSH--an update of the continuing saga of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, its progress as far as development, and its continued impact on Golden, B.C. Film segments may also be re-edited as content for Whistler Cable on "the making of the film" as well as "behind the scenes of the extreme film school."

During the day students will hike, ski and learn the art of shooting safely in a mountain environment. Avalanche protocol and other hazards will be huge factors, especially due to the tragedies experienced recently. In the evenings, storytelling will dominate the agenda and the entire production process will be examined--including the finesse of mountain and action shooting, the craft of quality post production, use of sound and music, and more.
