Salt Lake City, Utah/Teton Village, Wyoming -- While Jackson Hole Mountain Resort was enjoying some of the best snow in North America last week, Utah was suffering from one of its driest Januarys on record. Fortunately for Salt Lake City-area skiers, the weather pattern shifted a bit south over the weekend. In the past week, JHMR received 50 inches of snow, bringing the cumulative total to 258
inches, with summit and mid mountain depths of 75 and 71 inches, respectively.
Following the painfully dry January in Little Cottonwood Canyon, Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort received nearly three feet of snow in
the last 48 hours. As the clouds finally cleared early Monday, the snow stakes at Snowbird read 32 inches from the storm and 22 inches in the last
24 hours.
Snowbird is now reporting an 80-inch base. "Almost three feet of new snow and blue skies made today one of the best days in recent memory," said Dave Fields, Snowbird's Director of Public Relations. "February is a critical month for the ski industry and we're off to a great start."
