WHITEFISH, MONT. - Big Mountain Resort's popular Tuesday Night Cross-Country Race League rolls into action on June 25, 2002. This eight-race mountain bike series runs through Aug. 13 and fosters friendly competition and community spirit for local, regional and destination riders of all abilities.

Registration takes place from 5 - 6 p.m. on the Guest Services and Information Center deck and race start time is slated for 6:30 p.m. each week. Cost is $35 for the entire series, which includes weekly chances to win prizes and free beverages at all post-race celebrations at Moguls Village Pub. Single race entries are $10. Bike Rite in Kalispell will sponsor an on-site tech tent at each race.

The Tuesday Night Race League is open to all ages and abilities and race divisions include Beginner, Sport and Expert. Beginner riders will take one lap, Sport riders take two laps and Experts take three laps. Big Mountain's designated cross-country loop is 3.5 miles in length. Racers are encouraged to participate in teams with a minimum of 5 members per team and a maximum of 7 members with 2 alternates. Teams vie for points each week in pursuit of the Fat Tuesday Trophy to be awarded at the end of the series.

"This year promises to be even better than last season," said Pete Costain, the resort's Events Manager. "The course is in great shape and constantly evolving above, below and right through the middle of Glacier Village. We have lots of cool prizes again this year and the same great interest from the community."

Big Mountain is also introducing a new Wednesday Night "Gravity Games" Downhill Race League beginning July 17. Racers will compete on the new bikercross course in the chair 6 area complete with berms and jumps.
