Denver, Colo. - Stockli, the Swiss ski company, announced their new relationship with famed extreme skier Scot Schmidt for its freeride series, Stormrider, at the Snowsports Industry Association trade show on January 26-30, 2004, in Las Vegas. Schmidt, spent last winter with Stockli to create a graphic that fits skiers looking to explore more than a resort. Although his signature model is currently sold out, Schmidt and Stockli are excited about next year's skis.
"The Stormrider is sold as the extreme ski that isn't for the faint of heart," said Schmidt. "The ski is made for anyone who wants to adventure outside of the norm. It is a little heavier but with purpose. The overall composition of the ski is about stability and power."
Schmidt's signature model is constructed with a wood core and titanal fiberglass with a VTS II tip, Scratch Resistant (SCR) surface, Symmetric Contact Shape (SCS), racing edges. The Stormrider Scot Schmidt pro model has a base composed of racing graphite finished with Swiss precision and diamond-edge tuning. Since then, Schmidt spent years traveling and filming for Warren Miller, Greg Stump, Matchstick Productions and Teton Gravity Research, ski movie production companies that propelled Schmidt into superstar status. Schmidt also coordinates and performs ski stunt work for major motion pictures. Schmidt launched GowithaPro.com, a sports-talent agency that works with legendary athletes. As the vice president of athlete relations, Schmidt spends time traveling and working with great athletes like Gerry Lopez, Jonny Moseley and Robert "Wingnut" Weaver. Today Schmidt resides in Santa Cruz, surfing during the summer and skiing at Sugarbowl Resort in Lake Tahoe, Calif., with his two daughters, son and wife.
