WHISTLER, BC, March 17, 2004 - The TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival Competition Design Team has finalised the invitation list for the World Skiing Invitational - known as the mother of all freeskiing competitions and famous for its legendary parties.
Wrapping-up the 9th TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival, the Invitational takes place April 23-24 and invites leading freeskiers to compete for $50,000 in front of a capacity crowd in the Salomon Superpipe, a rider-judged SuperHit and the epic Salomon Big Air, with the results being televised in more than 50 countries later in 2004.
The line-up for this year's World Skiing Invitational is a who's who in freeskiing and includes: (Men) David Crichton, winner of the U.S. Open Superpipe and the World Superpipe Championship in 2004; three-times X Games Slopestyle Champion, Tanner Hall, last year's Salomon Big Air winner, Jon Olsson; and the defending Salomon Superpipe winner, Greg Tuffelmire; (Women) reigning U.S. Open Slopestyle champ, Global X Games Superpipe Queen, and defending Salomon Superpipe champion Sarah Burke; 2004 U.S. Open Superpipe winner, Marie Martinod, and past U.S. Open Pipe Champion, Jamie Sundberg.
