When an event that we were supposed to attend in Jackson was cancelled, we found ourselves in limbo. With no schedule and no plan we decided to take the tour to a place where no schedule and no plan is a way of life, Interior B.C.
When we got to the border we were a little nervous. Two words: Latex Glove. We had been following the progress of the Maggots on the message board because we wanted to crash their summit in Rossland, and apparently they had met some resistance when crossing into Canada. Given that we had a van loaded with gear and an industry with a reputation for tolerance, we assumed that the EuroVan would be in a thousand pieces when the customs officers were done with it. To make matters worse, we had kidnapped the editor of Powder, Steve Metcalf, in order to surprise the Maggots. Gabe sweet-talked the surprisingly attractive customs officer as we gagged Metcalf in the back of the van, and then crossed the border without resistance. Upon entering the town of Rossland, we spied the fresh snow on the streets and knew tomorrow was on.

Red Mountain has steep terrain, tons of snow, no line-ups, and an amazing staff of people. All of these aspects, combined with the Maggot summit, made for an awesome stop. While the Maggots were busy with a ski vert for charity-a-thon, we received the Red Mountain red carpet treatment. After the most amazing ski cafeteria eggs Benedict we have ever had, we feasted on the steeps of Red. Long, consistent fall lines beckoned in every direction. Our guide and director of Marketing, Jim Greene, showed us all the stashes and we were amazed at what this mountain had to offer. After a full day on the hill, we crashed the Maggot's party, donated some swag for the awards ceremony then got ready for another day in the wilds of B.C.
