I'm not sure if everyone knows what the Powder Maggots are, but you should. These are the guys and gals that grace the Powdermag.com message boards with clever banter, unbelievable stoke, and witty humor. The Maggots are very well organized, for ski bums, and they plan parties and ski summits all over North America. One of these summits coincided with our stop. When we bumped into the Maggots at the top of the bat cave, a steep little shot at Alta, I soon realized that these guys are the genuine article, not some squad of internet geeks. They were dropping in with reckless abandon, straight lining, airing, and skiing with copious amounts of speed. Possessing more raw ski talent than you would expect, they came to the Utah mini summit ready to ski. Then they showed up for our party at The Alta Peruvian Lodge and the place went off.

This was our most successful party yet, as the $1.00 pints may have had something to do with it, but the excellent people were the other decisive factor. After a soft day on the slopes everyone was primed for our Video Awards and gear giveaways. The combination of Maggots and local skiers made for the perfect ambiance and the party went off without a hitch.
Even though it is a below average snow year at Alta there is still more accumulation than most places on a good year. This may be why the locals are Powder Magazine fanatics and amazing skiers. Whatever the case, we were well taken care of and the stop exceeded our highest expectations. I can't wait to go back to this legendary place.
